With more than a decade of experience in the financial services industry advising business owners and investors on a wide range of financial strategies, John brings a unique perspective to each business owner and buyer throughout the sale process.
Prior to founding Elko Creek Capital, LLC, John launched the M&A and business brokerage offering at Patton Albertson and Miller, a fee-only RIA, where he was a partner in the firm. After realizing a major gap that exists between business brokers serving small, main street companies and investment bankers serving large enterprises, he set out to launch a merger and acquisition advisory firm catering to the needs of companies with $1 million to $50 million in revenue. By bringing the hands-on, research intensive approach of traditional investment banking down to companies with less than $50 million in annual sales, the firm's unique process provides business owners with the expertise and guidance required to achieve a successful sale or acquisition.
John is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Financial Planning. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner and a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst™. John began his career as an analyst at Wachovia Securities in Atlanta and later worked as a financial advisor with Merrill Lynch serving business owners, high-net-worth families, and institutional investors.
He works with owners and management teams of privately held businesses throughout the southeast providing exit planning, business brokerage, and merger & acquisition advisory. He has developed and presented continuing education courses for CPAs, attorneys, and other professionals on a number of topics, including financial and tax issues for business owners in divorce and financial planning strategies relating to the division of privately held business interests.
John and his wife, Katherine, have 3 children and are active members of the middle Georgia community.

A graduate of UNC Chapel Hill with a degree in Economics, Derek brings 20 years of experience in banking, financial services, and investment management.
With a diverse background across a wide range of roles and responsibilities throughout the financial services industry, Derek is in a unique position to assist owners with various succession and acquisition financing strategies.
Derek began his career at Banc of America Capital Management in Charlotte as an internal mutual fund consultant before joining Salomon Smith Barney as a financial consultant. He later worked at U.S. Trust in both Richmond, VA, and Macon, GA as a Vice President in the private client group and trust department. Before moving into corporate finance, Derek served as a Vice President, Trust Officer, and Investment Executive for Capital City Bank in Macon, GA, managing the trust services for Georgia and Alabama.
He currently serves as a Director and head of strategic financing for Elko Creek Capital, LLC, where assists clients with acquisition and succession financing strategies.
Derek resides in Macon with his wife, Elizabeth, and their three children, Sam, Mimi, and Eliza.
